Kilkee Town Council Partnerships

Kilkee Town Council works in partnership with many community organisations for the betterment of Kilkee. Members of Kilkee Town Council are represented on various voluntary committees including:

Kilkee Civic Trust

The Kilkee Civic Trust was set up in November 2001 to nourish the built, spoken and environmental heritage of Kilkee. The trust has undertaken many projects in co-operation with various bodies such as Clare County Council, Kilkee Town Council, the Church of Ireland, the World Ocean Rowing Society and Kilkee Tidy Towns.

The members of the Kilkee Civic Trust are: Tom Byrne, Richard Collins, Mary Donnelly, James Furlong, Michael Houlihan, Joan Houlihan, Patrick Keane, John Nolan, John Williams.

The objectives of the civic trust are as follows:

To identify buildings and spaces of importance to the history, architecture and character of the town of Kilkee and to promote or seek to ensure their conservation and their development for purposes appropriate to the nature of the building or civic space.
To initiate proposals for the improvement, protection and development of features of historic or public interest.
To promote public awareness in the good appearance of Kilkee and of the County of Clare so as to inspire generally a sense of civic pride.
To eliminate, improve and prevent ugliness and dereliction from either bad design or neglect.
To conserve buildings of particular artistic distinction or historic interest.
To promote high standards of architecture and planning. To promote informed and constructive participation in planning matters.
To undertake valuable research programmes to establish a bank of local historic material for general purposes.
To promote training, hold courses and lectures.

Kilkee Town Council in association with Clare County Council will liaise regularly with Kilkee Civic Trust Ltd. and will give every assistance possible to the Civic Trust in order for it to fulfil its aims and objectives.
