Community CentreIn recent years a community centre has been built at Circular Road supported by FAS training schemes The community centre now provides accommodation for the following activities:
Kilkee Coast GuardKilkee Coast Guard is a unit of the Irish Coast Guard under the department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. Kilkee Coast Guard currently has 16 members and anyone over the age of 18 and residing within a 12-15 minute radius of Kilkee is eligible to join. The unit is on call 24/7 all year round and respond to cliff and sea emergencies. The unit also carries out other functions such as shore searches and safety checks. Training takes on a two weekly cycle on Wednesday evenings and Sundays during the winter. Kilkee Rescue Centre founded in 1984 is on call 24 hours a day. Located beside the boathouse at the East End it is the only inshore Lifeboat on the coastline between Loop Head and Lahinch. The service provides safety cover for the numerous pleasure craft and commercial fishing vessels that operate along the coast. Kilkee Rescue is a completely voluntary group. Places of WorshipSt. Senan's Church is located at Circular Road, Kilkee. It was built during the years 1956-1963 and was officially opened in July 1963. The Church of Ireland church is on the Carrigaholt Road. The Methodist Church is located at the end of Geraldine Terrace. It was built in 1890 but is now only open for services during the holiday season. SchoolsOver the last decade Kilkee Vocational School has become one of the main centres of education in West Clare for both boys and girls. Pupil enrolment has increased three-fold since its foundation in 1969 in recognition of the value of comprehensive technical education available. The range of subjects in the school has been enhanced by the co-operation that exists between the Vocational school and the local Convent of Mercy. As a result, a joint Leaving Certificate Programme is in operation and has proved highly successful in recent years. Scoil Réalt na Mara, situated in Chapel Street is also a modern mixed school facility. It was opened in 1999 by Minister Sile de Valera acting on behalf of the Minister for Education Michéal Martin. Sweeney Memorial LibraryThe Sweeney Memorial Library is a public lending library run by Clare County Council on O'Connell Street. It holds books of all descriptions and is much availed of by tourists and locals alike. Library Opening HoursMonday and Wednesday: 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. to 8.00
